the latest album ultrasound is the
first to to have recognisable features
(it’s a girl)
there’s a lot of singing going on right now
drums, bass and keyboards are kind of done
guitars at the ready…

several things have conspired to briefly halt
progress over the last couple of months
(illness, the need to earn money…)
but the most enjoyable forced recess
was having to go to new york last week
we first played there a couple of years ago for CMJ
and the show at the Delancey was our favourite gig ever
(though Lex might not remember it too well
after resorting to heroin to cure the pain of a broken spine)
we fell crazy in love with the city and the people
here are some songs, snippets and stuff to try to bring back
some tastes, smells, sights and sounds of nyc

eating / drinking
(sorry this may get a bit michael winner for a mo)
bubbys

hudson & north moore. oh fuck i could eat here every day of my (what would be probably well shortened) life and become v fat and v happy. each morning the friend i was staying with would go to to the gym to work out and i would go to bubbys to work my way through the breakfast menu.
and sonic youth were there too, so.
corner bistro

jane & west 4th. the best jukebox & the greatest burgers… put on some creedence clearwater revival, drink a few mcsorleys, have a cheese burger and try to even start arguing that americans don’t have it all figured out
little branch

20 7th ave south. this place mixed the most perfect drinks any of us have ever had (may i recommend an island old fashioned), had totally cool staff, played live jazz and just thinking of it makes me want to booze. all night.

some good words part 3
well I got a job and I tried to put my money away
but I got debts that no honest man can pay
so I drew what I had from the central trust
and I bought us two tickets on that coast city bus
well now everything dies baby that’s a fact
but maybe everything that dies someday comes back
put your make up on fix your hair real pretty
and meet me tonight in atlantic city
well our luck may have died and our love may be cold
but with you forever I’ll stay
we’re going out where the sand’s turning to gold
put on your stockings baby cos the night’s getting cold
atlantic city – bruce springsteen
I’d really like to live beside you, baby
I love your body and your spirit and your clothes
But you see that line there moving through the station?
I told you, I told you, told you, I was one of those
Ah you loved me as a loser, but now you’re worried that I just might win
You know the way to stop me, but you don’t have the discipline
How many nights I prayed for this, to let my work begin
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I don’t like your fashion business mister
And I don’t like these drugs that keep you thin
I don’t like what happened to my sister
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
leonard cohen – first we take manhattan
I just wish my life could be as strange as a conspiracy
I hold out home but there’s no way of being what I want to be
The dragons blow fire angels fly spirits wither in the air
I’m just me I can’t deny I’m neither here, there nor anywhere
Oh you should see my trail of disgrace
It’s enough to scare the whole human race
I said, oh you should see my trail of disgrace
It’s enough to scare the whole human race, yeah, eminence
